3.5 X 1.5 are often referred to as motorway rails as they are the size typically used by the highways agency to fence along the side of motorways however they can also be used for general construction or garden projects as they offer a slightly lighterweight then traditional 4 X 2 timbers so in some applications can be easier to use.
The 3.5 X 1.5 fencing rail is rough sawn with a square edge.

These rails are treated up to a user class 4 (UC4) which is the highest level of treatment meaning these fencing rails are actually treated to ground contact which should mean many years of reliable service as a rail. It is treated to prevent wood decay and insect attack
